About

The M2 Program

The M2 Program is an immersive music summer program designed to give children and teens of all abilities the experience of being a part of a professional performing arts event. Students will be mentored by internationally performing musicians who will mentor them through the planning, preparation, and performance stages of presenting a musical showcase for the Santa Barbara County community. This professional simulation in turn fosters a sense of responsibility, teamwork, and stage skills in our students. The ultimate goal of this program is not only to improve a student’s musical literacy and performance skills, but also to develop organizational and interpersonal skills and knowledge which can then be applied in their everyday lives.

The learning elements of this program are designed to fit the skills, abilities, and interests of each individual student. Students in the M2 Summer Camp track do not need to have any prior musical experience, and will learn the basics of reading music, playing musical instruments in groups, and have the opportunity to explore other performance disciplines like dance and drama as well. Students in the M2 Elite program will be asked to submit an audition tape and will be asked to take on more of a leadership role in designing and developing their own segments of the show, and will be featured in the showcase. They will also have access to one on one mentoring and private instruction with our Artistic Director.

The final public showcase entitled the “M2 Festival” will include performances from all student participants and will be a celebration of what the students have achieved throughout the program. The event will consist of food, drink, and activities for all attendees, making it a fun experience for all.
